When should a Rust Preventive be used on molds?

Molds are an expensive investment that require protection. Rust on molds result in defective molded parts and incurs an expense in repair costs in addition to lost production due to down time. Molds pulled from production, should be thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and coated on the inside and the outside with a rust preventive. The short term storage of molds under 30 days and the long term storage over 30 days requires protection from humidity with a coating of an effective rust preventive.

What type of Antioxidant should be used on molds?

The length of storage should determine the type of rust preventive used. Slide products formulate its rust preventives for both short term and long term protection. Before storage of the thoroughly cleaned mold it is highly recommended the mold be sprayed with a neutralizer to remove any acids present and then apply the rust preventive.
